[What's in the bag?]
Packing for a hike is a compromise between ensuring you are well prepared and have everything you need and having a pack so heavy you're worn out after an hour. You should choose your items carefully but NEVER skimp on water. The information provided below is a suggestion, and you must take responsibility for your kit.
What do you need?
You don't have to spend a ton of money to go bushwalking, but if you're planning on walking with us you'll need:
proper walking shoes or boots with good traction
walking poles are not essential but make it easier
a good, fully adjustable pack - not a school backpack
clothing suitable for the weather - layers are best
a personal first aid kit
suitable containers for sufficient water and food
If it's your first walk with us - the walk leader will ask you some questions about your equipment and preparedness.
There is lots of great information on the Bushwalking NSW website.
